Welcome to our research group
We welcome Yu Li, Nasri Rosdi and Renjie Mike Huang to our research group.
Yu is a native of China. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Food Quality and Safety from the Shandong Agricultural University in China in 2011, and her MSc in Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Leeds in the UK in 2012. She joined the Food Science programme as a PhD student (main supervisor: Professor Paul Kilmartin) in June 2013. Yu joins us formally in February 2015 with Ivan acting as her co-supervisor. She is studying plant polyphenol oxidase from biochemical and inhibition perspectives with an aim to develop agrochemicals for the wine industry.
Nasri is from Malaysia. He is a holder of the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) Scholarship. Nasri joins us as a BSc(Hons) student, in which he will be working on the production and purification of recombinant heat shock protein 90 (HSP90), and the development of HSP90 NMR binding assays for inhibitor discovery.
Mike came from Shanghai, China. He obtained his BCom/BSc conjoint degree from the University of Auckland in 2015. Mike joins us as a PGDipSci student. He will be working on the development of a ligand-observe NMR binding assay to measure binding constants. He will be using our state-of-the-art 600 MHz Bruker NMR instrument for his research.
